Rolling Stone recently released an updated version of their 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and coming in at #1 in their new iteration is Aretha Franklin’s signature song “Respect.”
The song has a distinct Alabama connection thanks to Muscle Shoals musicians, including guitarist Jimmy Johnson, organist Spooner Oldham, and drummer Roger Hawkins, who all played on the track.
