Every week, we’ll be previewing Auburn Football’s upcoming opponent. This week, Auburn matches up with Georgia in The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.

Kirby Smart is currently in his 6th year as UGA’s head coach, and he has kept them as a dominant force in college football since his arrival. In his prior five years, UGA has won the East three times, winning the conference once, and falling in the 2017 national championship.

So far this year, UGA has been impressive, averaging 41 points per game, while only giving up 4.6 points per game. Offensively, they are very balanced, averaging 196 rushing yards per game, and 237 passing yards per game. They have four running backs with over 100 yards, and two with over 200. Their defense has been especially impressive this year, only giving up about 200 yards of total offense per game, and giving up only one touchdown.

Players to watch for:

Running back Zamir White- White currently leads UGA in carries with 53, rush yards with 275, and touchdowns with four.  He is far from their only runner, but he is the featured back to look out for.

Defensive tackle Jordan Davis- A regular contributor since his freshman year, the senior Davis is the face of the UGA defense. The 6’6″ 340 pound lineman is an intimidating presence, and is a big reason opposing offenses are averaging less than three yards per carry. He is also quick enough to generate a pass rush, already having 1.5 sacks this season.
