Each week, I will look at a movie that is currently in theaters or available to stream and give some reasons why people should watch it. This isn’t necessarily a film critique, rather, an overview of what I think is enjoyable about the film, and why it’s worth seeing. This week, we’ll look at The Highwaymen starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson.

The Highwaymen is a Netflix original film, about the two detectives who brought down Bonnie and Clyde. While some Netflix films are worthy of a facepalm, this does not fall under that category. Costner and Harrelson make this film in my opinion. The story is what it is, as it’s a biography, there’s not going to be a whole lot of surprises, so it’s on the actors and the characters they play to make the story come to life, and I believe Costner and Harrelson do this quite well. Both as a team, and as individuals, everything they do feels like it could be important, so while some might find the film too meticulous or in need of a speed up, that isn’t how the detective game normally works; you never know what clue could be the game changer.

The Highwaymen is currently available to stream on Netflix.
