Betty Davis, who was at the forefront of funk music in the 1970s, has died at the age of 77.

She was briefly married to famous jazz musician Miles Davis and was credited with introducing him to musicians such as Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone, which in return influenced his jazz fusion style.
