Movie Monday (September 12): Inception

inception

Each week, I will look at a movie that is currently in theaters or available to stream and give some reasons why people should watch it. This isn’t necessarily a film critique, rather, an overview of what I think is enjoyable about the film, and why it’s worth seeing. This week we’ll look back at the mind bending Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Inception is a beautifully deep movie which is to be expected when Christopher Nolan is at the helm. Given the human mind is complex, it’s also no surprise that a movie made with a great director and cast about the human mind is also complex and is hard to fully comprehend on first watch. The good new is that this is a completely rewatchable movie. It is a good kind of complexity that leaves you wanting to figure out exactly what is going on rather than filling you with frustrating that drives you on the edge of quitting. In general, I find anything with DiCaprio in it to be worth watching and this is no exception. The cast is deep, as some of Nolan’s favorites from The Dark Knight trilogy are involved. And, everything from the visuals to the sound in the film is beautiful. Inception won four Oscars (Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, and Visual Effects) making it one of the most aesthetically pleasing movies of all time. The movie has been out for just over a decade, and will stand the test of time, as one of the most beautifully complex movies of all time.

Inception is currently available on HBO Max.
