Mordecai led SMU to victory in the highest scoring regulation college football game in the modern era as the Mustangs defeated the Houston Cougars 77-63. In the process Mordecai tallied 379 yards passing, 54 yards rushing, and an incredible 10 total touchdowns, with 9 passing and 1 rushing. Mordecai became the first player in college football history to have 7 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown in a half.
