Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia is SportsCall’s Player of the Week!
In a stunning upset, the Commodores took down top ranked Alabama for the first time since 1984, winning 40-35 in Nashville. Pavia was the star in the contest, completing 16 of his 20 pass attempts for 252 yards and two scores, adding another 56 yards on the ground.
The game was historic for several reasons, as it was Vanderbilt’s first ever win over a top 5 team, owning an 0-60 record against such teams before Saturday, and an 0-10 record against number 1 ranked opponents.
After the game, Pavia was quoted as saying “These are the kinds of games that change your life.”
