Auburn center Johni Broome is SportsCall’s Player of the Week!
Broome led the Tigers to three wins in the Maui Invitational last week, winning the tournament championship and being named tournament MVP.
In the first game against Iowa State, Broome scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, also logging two blocks, two assists, and two steals. His final points came at the buzzer as he tipped in a missed shot to give the Tigers the just 1.4 seconds left. Auburn would hold on to the lead to win 83-81.
Just a day later, Broome would log 23 points and a season-high 19 rebounds, as well as five assists and three blocks as Auburn took down North Carolina 85-72.
In the Tournament Final, Broome logged his fifth straight double-double and third of the tournament, scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds, adding six assists, four blocks and a steal as Auburn beat Memphis 90-76 to win the Maui Invitational.
