Auburn guard Denver Jones is SportsCall’s Player of the Week!
The senior point guard had a big week when Auburn needed him most, helping the Tigers to go 2-0 on the week and maintain the number 1 spot in the AP Poll.
On Tuesday against Vanderbilt, Jones scored 21 points, the most ever in his Auburn career. He shot 7-10 from the field including a blistering 5-7 from deep lifting Auburn to an 80-68 win.
On Saturday against number 2 Alabama, Jones scored 16 points, again shooting an efficient 5-9 from the floor and 3-5 from three point range to lead Auburn to a 94-85 win.
After the games, Bruce Pearl commented on Jones’ play, highlighting his defensive ability and making the case that Jones should be on the national All-Defensive team.
For his efforts, Jones was named SEC Player of the Week by the conference.
