Syl Johnson, Chicago Soul Singer, Dies at 85

Syl Johnson, one of the main contributors to Chicago soul music in the 1960s & ’70s, has died at the age of 85.

Johnson’s 1968 song “Different Strokes” has been widely sampled by hip-hop artists, including Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy and Kanye West.
