South Carolina Quarterback Spencer Rattler is SportsCall’s Player of the Week presented by Eric McDade State Farm!
Rattler had the performance many expected him to have dating back to his time at Oklahoma, as he led South Carolina to a major upset over No. 5 Tennessee. Rattler went 30-of-37 passing for 438 yards and six touchdowns. All of those numbers are career highs for Rattler. The six passing touchdowns are a South Carolina Football program record, as the Gamecocks went on to score 63 points against the Volunteers. South Carolina’s 63 points were the most by a Carolina team against a top-5 opponent; the most by an unranked team against an AP top-5 opponent in the poll era (since 1936); the most points by an unranked SEC team vs a ranked SEC team ever in regulation; and the most points allowed by Tennessee in an SEC game.
