“Players” is a movie that can be considered a sports movie because it’s about a
group of friends that happen to be sports writers, but I believe it is more of a romance.

A group of friends sort of have a “playbook” that they use to help each other get set up with dates. It is full of comedy as well. When watching this movie I thought back to the tv show, “How I Met Your Mother.” The use of a “playbook” was a huge plot in the tv show as well as it was in this movie. Without giving too much away I would say they are very similar with how things ended as well.

The movie does have an ending that I should have seen coming from a mile away, but I just wanted to tell myself that the ending was going to be different than most movies set up this way. A friend group full of singles usually has a sign that one of them loves another group member and that’s exactly how this movie was. I believe the writers covered the love up the best they could as I genuinely was surprised at the end.

I would recommend this movie but I will say the beginning was very boring and it was very repetitive because they were trying to explain how the “playbook” worked. It got way better toward the end and had a great ending.
