Takeaways:
It is officially time for Arthur Smith and general manager Terry Fontenot have at the quarterback position in rookie third round pick Desmond Ridder. By looking at the stat sheet alone one would think that Mariota had a decent game; but for those that watched the entirety of the game can easily tell that Mariota’s decision making as a passer is starting to really effect the offense. To begin the game, the Falcons simply could not move the ball due to the fact that the Panthers defense sold out for the run and succeeded mostly in shutting them down. On the other side of the ball, the defense again got gashed by D’Onta Foreman as he again ran for over 100 yards on the evening. Overall though, this loss was on the offense who simply could not stay on the field. The Falcons get a long week, since they played on Thursday Night Football, and prepare for the Bears who are on a three-game losing streak despite the red hot play of second year quarterback Justin Fields.
