As we celebrate SportsCall’s 25th anniversary, we’re taking a look back at the 25 greatest Auburn football wins since 1995!
Coming in at #5 is Auburn’s 2010 SEC Championship win over South Carolina:
- Auburn stormed into the 2010 SEC Championship game with a 12-0 record and a rematch against South Carolina in front of them. They had beaten the Gamecocks 35-27 in Jordan-Hare Stadium with Cam Newton totaling five touchdowns. However, Auburn’s offense had picked up steam since then
- After an end of half Hail Mary from Newton to Darvin Adams, the Tigers led 28-14 at the break. From then on, it was all Newton and all Auburn. The Tigers would score 28 more points while holding the Gamecocks to three and secured their first SEC Championship since 2004
- Newton’s performance earned him SEC Championship Offensive MVP and he would be named the winner of the Heisman Trophy just a week later. The Tigers, at 13-0, were #1 in the BCS rankings and secured their spot in the BCS National Championship game
