As we celebrate SportsCall’s 25th anniversary, we’re taking a look back at the 25 greatest Auburn football games since 1995!

Coming in at #1 is Auburn’s 2010 BCS National Championship Game vs. Oregon:

  • Auburn’s perfect season led to all this: meeting the #2 Oregon Ducks in the BCS National Championship in Glendale, Arizona. Two dynamic offenses would clash in a defensive battle in the middle of the desert that would end in a last second field goal for the trophy.

Tied at 19 late in the fourth quarter, the Auburn offense meticulously drove the ball down the field behind the legs of Cam Newton and freshman running back Michael Dyer. Dyer took a handoff and rolled over an Oregon defender without ever going down…he would jump back up for a big gain.

The run would allow Auburn to burn clock and set up a game-winning field goal attempt by Wes Byrum with just seconds to go on the clock. Byrum put it through and the Tigers won their first national championship since 1957 by a score of 22-19. The title would complete the Tigers’ 14-0 2010 season and they finished #1 in all rankings.
