Each week, I will look at a movie that is currently in theaters or available to stream and give some reasons why people should watch it. This isn’t necessarily a film critique, rather, an overview of what I think is enjoyable about the film, and why it’s worth seeing. This week we’ll look at Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds.
None of what I say about Deadpool will be breaking news. Maybe this is just more of a PSA that it’s available to stream on Hulu. Deadpool is a lot different than other superhero movies and it is wonderfully executed. Reynolds is funny both in third person commentary when talking to the audience, and in the movie itself. While the plot is nothing unheard of, it does leave you rooting hard for Deadpool to pull off his save of his love interest. This movie tries to be the funniest superhero movie you’ve seen, and it succeeds. It was so well received, that Deadpool 2 was made in a strikingly fast two years, despite the size of production and size of star Ryan Reynolds is.
