This week’s SportsCall Player of the Week is Mississippi State quarterback KJ Costello!
Costello threw for a SEC record 623 passing yards and tied the school record with five touchdowns as he led the Bulldogs to an upset victory over LSU Saturday afternoon at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.
New coach Mike Leach’s air-raid offense allowed Costello to spread the ball around to several different receivers, and Mississippi State handed the reigning national champions a 44-34 opening season loss.
The Bulldogs will look to build off of that momentum in their home opener vs. Arkansas Saturday night.
